WORLD MENOPAUSE DAY (18/10/24): An open letter to the women of Australia, from Dr Emma Boulton, Director of Clinic 66 and Clinic 66 Online
Dear Women of Australia,
On behalf of myself and the dedicated team of women’s health GPs and their hard working support staff at Clinic 66 and Clinic 66 Online, I would like to acknowledge today, World Menopause Day, as a day to double down on our commitment to supporting the perimenopausal and menopausal women of Australia!
For too long, way too many Australian women all across the country have lacked access to appropriate care during perimenopause and menopause. And my way of advocating for those women is to do whatever I can to address the issue. At the coal face.
The recent senate report and recommendations on perimenopause and menopause care in Australia, highlights issues that are way overdue for attention, and we strongly urge the government to act on these recommendations without delay.
But in the meantime…
Three years ago, we established Clinic 66 Online to address exactly the kind of issues this report brings to light. We’ve been providing expert, accessible telehealth services in menopause and broader women’s health because we saw firsthand the gaps that existed in care. The Senate’s findings reaffirm what we’ve been doing all along — ensuring all women, no matter where they live, can receive expert, evidence based, personalised care.
We stand ready to continue working alongside GPs and the healthcare system to offer a collaborative, dedicated service for perimenopausal and menopausal women, particularly in rural and remote areas, but also in the cities and suburbs, where it can sometimes be just as difficult to find professional support.
On International Menopause Day and in fact everyday, we’re doing our best to provide solutions that support all Australian women through these critical life stages.
We're here to help. Take care.
Director
